George Dickerson aka "George D." first started DJing in 1977 at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. After graduating Quinnipiac in 1981 George went to work at a trendy new club in NYC called "Heartbreak". Heartbreak was to be the first true Oldies nightclub in the nation and it was there that George perfected his skills as one of the nations top disc jockeys. Heartbreak became the club of choice for the Manhattan elite and it was also a true showcase for George's many talents.

George would often entertain the likes of George Michael, Andy Warhol, Bianca Jagger, and even Steve Rubell of the old "Studio 54" days. While at Heartbreak George kept a very busy schedule. He would often play Wednesdays and Thursdays in NYC, fly to Biscayne Baby in Miami for Friday and Saturdays, and then fly back again to NYC to perform Sundays. During that time he worked at many of Manhattans finest clubs
including the Saint, 1018, Limelight, Rockabout, Magique, The China Club, Shout, and the NYC Jukebox.
